spiritual perspective
Submitted by Lokeajit on Sun, 09/03/2008 - 9:27am.
In the spiritual world/from spiritual perspective there are no demons, they are only part of the illusory material world/people and i.e. why you find genuine saints did not waste time in mocking other people but rather engaged completely in devotional service.

UNLIMITED QUALITIES
Submitted by Venu-Dhvani DD on Fri, 07/03/2008 - 6:28pm.
Anyone trying to enumerate or describe fully the unlimited qualities of the unlimited Supreme Lord has the intelligence of a foolish child. Even if a great genius could somehow or other, after a time-consuming effort, count all the particles of dust on the surface of the earth, such a genius could never count the attractive qualities of the Personality of Godhead, who is the reservoir of all potencies."

A GARLAND OF AFFECTION
Submitted by Venu-Dhvani DD on Fri, 07/03/2008 - 6:06pm.
My two-week visit to New Vrindaban passed quickly in Prabhupada's association. When it was time to return to Chapel Hill, a few devotees and I who were headed back to the New York temple climbed the stairs to Prabhupada's room to offer him our respects. We then picked up our bags and started walking down the farm road to the main road. Suddenly we heard a voice from behind us, "Uddhava, come up!" We turned. Prabhupada was calling from the upstairs window. Uddhava immediately ran back up the stairs. A few minutes later, Uddhava returned, smiling and garlanded with Prabhupada's garland. Prabhupada offered Uddhava his garland as an affectionate parting gesture. I remember the twinge of envy that pierced my heart. When I reflect on this incident along with its uncomfortable feeling of envy, I preach to myself: A spiritual master deals with each disciple personally and individually, and one should beware of envying his dealings with other disciples. Do not imagine that his dealings are based on superficialities -- likes or dislikes. Dealings between guru and disciple are deep and are meant for the disciple's welfare. In addition, it is not possible for a disciple to understand the depth of consciousness that motivates his spiritual master's actions.

"WE ARE WHAT WE EAT"
Submitted by Lokeajit on Fri, 07/03/2008 - 12:47am.
Eating and
"Why we can't be ourselves"
isn't a wonder to most of us, that often, we cannot often control our very nature/habits/activities/our thought process and in decision taking, in spite of chanting for hours/days/months/years. Do we sometimes not hear that after so many years a "big" sadhu/sanyasa/maharaj/devotee has blooped/fallen down etc. why does this happen ?
does it not happen to most of us for many a times, that we go against our ideals
is something wrong with the process we follow (it could be anything you might be following)
there is a saying we are what we eat, this is a very realistic view of what we are. Good food enhances our biological/psychological and intellectual system. Many people have different notions about what good food comprises and for people who want to understand the lord who is above the three gunas, it is advised for the practitioner to take to a saatvic diet cos this guna is nearer to the guna possessed by the lord and is also the cause of enhancing the knowledge of understanding the world as they are.
Saatvic diet involves many things, it involves the type of food i.e. the vegetables or fruits, the way they are acquired, the recipe, the cook, the place of cooking, the server and the person who eats.
