UNLIMITED QUALITIES

Anyone trying to enumerate or describe fully the unlimited qualities of the unlimited Supreme Lord has the intelligence of a foolish child. Even if a great genius could somehow or other, after a time-consuming effort, count all the particles of dust on the surface of the earth, such a genius could never count the attractive qualities of the Personality of Godhead, who is the reservoir of all potencies."

— Sri Drumila ...Srimad Bhagavatam 2.6.6

"LEARN SOMETHING AND TEACH OTHERS"

A GARLAND OF AFFECTION

My two-week visit to New Vrindaban passed quickly in Prabhupada's association. When it was time to return to Chapel Hill, a few devotees and I who were headed back to the New York temple climbed the stairs to Prabhupada's room to offer him our respects. We then picked up our bags and started walking down the farm road to the main road. Suddenly we heard a voice from behind us, "Uddhava, come up!" We turned. Prabhupada was calling from the upstairs window. Uddhava immediately ran back up the stairs. A few minutes later, Uddhava returned, smiling and garlanded with Prabhupada's garland. Prabhupada offered Uddhava his garland as an affectionate parting gesture. I remember the twinge of envy that pierced my heart. When I reflect on this incident along with its uncomfortable feeling of envy, I preach to myself: A spiritual master deals with each disciple personally and individually, and one should beware of envying his dealings with other disciples. Do not imagine that his dealings are based on superficialities -- likes or dislikes. Dealings between guru and disciple are deep and are meant for the disciple's welfare. In addition, it is not possible for a disciple to understand the depth of consciousness that motivates his spiritual master's actions.

THE ABSOLUTE TRUTH

The key to happiness is to seriously adopt the path of Krishna of bhakti without allowing yourself to waver under any circumstances. There are many tests for one who is seriously trying to escape the cycle of birth and death. One must patiently and conscientiously face them in a mood of complete dependency upon the Supreme Lord Krishna. The more we feel ourselves helpless and dependent upon that unlimitedly sweet all-attractive person, the more we become strong. Be enthusiastic. You've got every reason to be. You've discovered the Absolute Truth. Now you just have to fully realize it.

FAULT IN OTHERS

When faults in others misguide and delude you—have patience, introspect, find faults in ourself. Know that others cannot harm you unless you harm yourself".
